Aurora data comes from the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center; cloud forecasts from MET Norway (CC BY 4.0). The aurora is hard to predict, so the score is a guide.
Privacy policy
Last updated 27 October 2026
Aurorist does not collect, store or share any personal data. Everything you enter stays on your iPhone, in the app's own storage. There are no accounts, no servers, no analytics and no tracking.
If you allow it, Aurorist uses your location to work out darkness, the Kp you need and the cloud cover where you are. Your exact location stays on your iPhone: only a position rounded to about 10 km is sent to MET Norway to get the cloud forecast, and space-weather data is downloaded from NOAA without sending any personal data.
Deleting the app deletes all of its data. If your iPhone backs up to iCloud, your entries are part of that backup, which Apple protects under its own privacy policy.
If this ever changes, for example if the app starts showing ads, this page will be updated before the new version is released, and the App Store listing will say which data is used.
